Pre-requisite: studied al-Tadhkira fī ‘Ulūm al-Ḥadīth and passed its exam

This course will focus on the book al-Mukhtasar fi ‘Ilm Rijal al-Athar, written by the late Egyptian Muhaddith shaykh ‘Abd al-Wahhaab ‘Abd al-Latif. The book is an excellent introduction into some aspects of Mustalah  al-Hadith, especially the branch of al-Jarh wa al-Tadil.

This course is interesting and beneficial for the student who has already covered a basic primer in mustalah and wishes to advance his studies further by delving into specific branches. This course will serve as a good introduction and summary of al-Jarh wa al-Tadil.

The course will focus on the first part of the book. The second part consists of short biographical entries of selected narrators, which will be an informative read for the student of hadīth. While a few entries may be discussed, it remains optional and not the main focus.

  • All the classes are given in English.
  • Upon passing the assessment at the end of the course one is eligible for ijazah.

Note: monthly contribution gives access to the live lessons and its course group. Acces to previous course recordings will require an additional one-time contribution, after registration is completed.
