The focus of this course is the treatise, Dhamm mā alayhi Mad’ū al-Tasawwuf, by Imam Muwaffaq al-Din Ibn Qudāma. In it he lays down guidelines for the correct practice of tasawwuf and denounces some practices of the sufis of his time including singing, dancing, playing the tambourine and raising the voice for dhikr while thinking these were forms of closeness to Allah.
This short work is full of rare benefits which are important for the seeker of the spiritual path, aiding not only in guidance along the general paths of spirituality but also shedding light on the Imam’s individual outlook to Tasawwuf.
This course has ended, completion is through recordings.
