Pre-requisite: studied Lum’ah al-I’tiqād and passed its exam.

This course is the next instalment in the Ibn Qudāmah programme covering his well-known book ‘Taḥrīm al-Naẓar fī Kutub al-Kalām‘, taught by Shaykh Yūsuf b. Ṣādiq Al-Ḥanbalī.

In this book Ibn Qudāmah sets out his arguments in prohibition of Kalām. In it the shaykh delves into the subject of kalām and ta°wīl and details the Ḥanbalī position regarding them. Furthermore, Ibn Qudāmah clarifies key issues in ‘aqīdah such as the Ḥanbalī position regarding the Divine Attributes, the issue of taqlīd and ijtihād in ‘aqīdah and the correct approach to the akhbār aḥad. While studying this book the student will deepen their understanding of these issues building on what Ibn Qudāmah already laidc out Lum’ah al-I’tiqād.

This course has ended, completion is through recordings.
